انتشرت الأبواب الوهمية في مقابر مصر في العصر البطلمي، في الإسکندرية تحديدًا، ولکن لدينا نموذج من مدينة أخرى وهى مدينة منديس، وکانت تستخدم لغلق فتحات اللوکولوس Loculus، وتسعى هذه الدراسة إلى تحقيق هدفين رئيسين؛ الأول منهما: نشر أحد الأبواب الوهمية، الذي عثر عليه في مدينة منديس القديمة (تل الرُبع)، وهو محفوظ حاليًا في متحف بورسعيد القومي، ومن خلاله يظهر الهدف الثاني منهما: وهو التعرف على الأبواب الوهمية في العصر البطلمي، والتعرف على وظائفها، وتکوينها، وشکلها، وطرزها، ومقارنة هذا النوع من الأبواب الوهمية بتلک التي ظهرت في الحضارة المصرية القديمة، ونظيرتها من الحضارة الإتروسکية، وکذلک الأناضولية ومحاولة رصد أصولها، والأقرب لها في الوظيفة والشکل، ومعرفة الهدف من رسم مثل هذه الأبواب الوهمية.
 
The false doors spread in ancient Ptolemaic tombs, to close the slots of Loculi. This study is aimed to achieve two main goals; the first is to publish one of the slabs of loculi decorated with false door, which was found in the ancient city of Mendes (Tel Al-Roba) and is currently preserved in the Port Said National Museum. The second goal is to identify the types of the flase doors in the Ptolemaic period, in the the Ptolemaic period, identifying its functions, composition, shapes, types, and comparing this type of false doors to those represented in the ancient Egyptian civilization, and their counterparts from the Etruscan civilization, as well as Anatolian ones and trying to trace their origins, and the closest to them in function and form, and knowing the aim of painting such doors.
