The period following the death of Alexander the Great (356 BC-323 BC), historically known as the Wars of the Diadochi, witnessed a great conflict between Alexander the Great's successors from leaders for the rule of his vast empire. The Wars of the Diadochi extended from 322 until the end of 281 BC, and despite the end of the Wars of the Diadochi at the end of the year 281 BC, the following year, of 280 BC, witnessed a new trouble represented by the attack of the Celtic tribes (Gaul) on Macedonia. Some Celtic tribes invaded Macedonia at the end of 280 BC coveting its wealth, and indeed they defeated and killed the king of Macedonian Ptolemy (Keraunos), which encouraged them to invade southern Greece, but they suffered a great defeat. And in spite of that, they were able to establish the Kingdom of Telus in Thrace in 287 BC and the Kingdom of Galatia in Asia Minor. And if the battles in 277 BC and 275 BC had not occurred, these tribes would have taken control of many places, in Greece and in Asia Minor.
