Abstract

The large number of documents that have been found in the Eastern Desert provide us with a great deal of information about foodstuffs in that area during the Roman period, whereas available botanical and archaeo-zoological evidence from the Eastern Desert, and in particular from the presidium of Krokodilo, is scarce. Since this written evidence about foodstuffs and drinks has not been extensively studied previously, this article will investigate it in Krokodilo along with the available botanical and archaeo-zoological data during the Roman period.
